New store, same friendly folks! Brookshire Brothers moved its Valley Mills operations to a new store located at 902 Avenue C on Wednesday, March 22nd. The Valley Mills Chamber of Commerce, City of Valley Mills and Valley Mills ISD will be helped Brookshire Brothers kick things off with a ribbon cutting at 12:00 PM. Grand Opening festivities included a prize wheel, raffles, giveaways, and performances by Valley Mills ISD cheerleaders and band.
Store Director Wes Thiele invites his Valley Mills neighbors to stop by, check out the new store, and say hello to his extraordinary team. Thiele has more than 20 years of grocery experience, including almost three years at the cur-rent Valley Mills Brookshire Brothers Express location. As a Valley Mills native, he loves fishing, sports, and spending time with his family. While serving as Store Director, Thiele considers himself fortunate to help bring this new location to his hometown and introduced Tori Smith as his Assistant Store Director during the ribbon cutting ceremony. The new Brookshire Brothers Ex-press location will feature fresh meat and produce, a hot deli with daily spe-cials, Western Union, money orders, and a full-service courtesy booth.
In addition to the fun provided by the Valley Mills cheerleaders and band, folks were invited to come out and enjoy the grand opening activities by spin-ning on the prize wheel, registering for giveaways and enjoying refreshments. Customers can take advantage of additional in store savings by joining CELEBRATE – Brookshire Brothers’ loyalty program. Celebrate members receive digital coupons and also enjoy weekly specials and promotions.

Grapeland now boasts a Brookshire Brothers Express tailor made for its community. The latest retail location for the Lufkin-based grocer welcomed its first customers at 6AM Wednesday, October 26th. In opening the store, company COO John Alston said, “The good people of Grapeland let us know from the beginning that they needed not only a grocery store but a full-service pharmacy. When we started designing the store, we took that request into account and have delivered a small format grocery store and a pharmacy complete with a drive-through and a pharmacist whose grandparents live in Grapeland!” Alston went on to say that the beauty of the Express format is that it can be adapted to meet the needs of the community it serves. The employee-owned company has three more Express stores opening in Texas between now and February.
Latexo native Billy Harrington is the Store Director. Harrington has been with Brookshire Brothers more than twenty years serving stores in Crockett, Groveton and Corrigan. Lisa KennonVance of Groveton will be his assistant. They’ve hired 35 people to staff the store that will be open from 6AM-9PM daily. The store team is excited to provide Grapeland and surrounding Houston County a hot deli featuring grab and go favorites like Brookshire Brothers’ famous fried chicken, daily lunch specials and a full breakfast. The store is also stocked with core grocery items, fresh meat and produce. Pharmacist Heather Harrison leads her team that includes tech Jamie Bauer.
A host of city and county leaders, public officials, students and educators attended Wednesday’s ribbon cutting. The Grapeland High School band and cheerleaders entertained the crowd and Jon Rhone sang the National Anthem. Brookshire Brothers presented Chief Roger Dickey and the Volunteer Fire Department a check for $500 as part of the Ribbon Cutting. They also thanked Ashley Corns, Harry Pridgen and the team at the Grapeland Library for allowing them to host job fairs for the community there. Chamber President Pat McNieve joined Brookshire Brothers representatives in cutting the ribbon, officially opening the Grapeland store.

It was a grand way to start the 4th of July in Pilot Point as Brookshire Brothers opened its 107th store. The employee-owned company out of Lufkin invited the entire community to the July 1st party that featured cheerleaders, Cub Scouts, veterans, a prize wheel, dignitaries, giveaways and samples for hundreds. Chamber of Commerce Executive Denise Morris and Chamber President Jim McIlroy joined COO John Alston and Store Director Richard Hamill in cutting the ribbon. Recent Pilot Point High School graduate Harmony Tetmeyer sang The National Anthem.
The 22,500 square foot store on South Highway 377 emphasizes FRESH with its in store Bakery, Deli, Meat Market and extensive Produce Department. A full service pharmacy with a drive through will open in September.
Brookshire Brothers expressed its commitment to family and community by making financial donations to Pilot Point’s First Responders (Police Chief Ric Sadler and Fire Chief Heath Hudson) and Luther Slay with Shepherd’s Storehouse. The Library provided face painting and PP Beautiful Clean handed out information.
