Brookshire Brothers Hosts Inaugural Trick or Trot 5K and Kids Fun Run

There’s even more to look forward to this upcoming Halloween weekend with the addition of a new family-friendly event in downtown Lufkin. Brookshire Brothers is hosting its inaugural Trick or Trot 5K and Kids Fun Run on October 29, 2022.

The morning begins at 8 a.m. with the one-mile Kids Fun Run, sponsored by Pilgrims. The timed 5K race starts at 8:30 a.m. Cotton Square will be packed with vendor booths, carnival games, pumpkin painting and more following the races. There will also be a contest for the best-dressed kids and adults, so family-friendly costumes are highly encouraged.

“We wanted to create a fall festival atmosphere for this event in order to provide families with a safe and fun Halloween experience right here in our own hometown,” said Brookshire Brothers Public Relations & Corporate Responsibility Manager Melissa Crager.

Those wanting to participate can sign up here.

All proceeds from the event benefit the Brookshire Brothers Charitable Foundation, a 501c3 organization that enhances Brookshire Brothers’ century-long legacy of giving. Each year, the BBCF provides sizable grants to nonprofit organizations in communities where Brookshire Brothers operates.

“As your community grocer since 1921, Brookshire Brothers believes there’s nothing that goes together better than good food and good fun,” Crager said. “That’s why we’re so excited about this new event. Not only will it be a lot of fun, it will also help a lot of people.”

Over the past two decades, the BBCF has awarded more than a million dollars in grants to deserving nonprofit organizations and education foundations so they may better serve their communities.

“The Brookshire Brothers Charitable Foundation supports numerous local nonprofit organizations, such as the Salvation Army of Lufkin, Alcohol & Drug Abuse Council, Buckner and Junior Achievement of Angelina County. We have a big heart for giving back, and we believe this event will help us do that even more,” Crager said.

Brookshire Brothers partnered with Visit Lufkin to bring this exciting event to historic downtown.

“After the Trick or Trot fun, take a walk in historic downtown Lufkin and explore trendy boutiques, one-of-a-kind antique finds and lunch on the Bistro patio,” said the City of Lufkin’s Director of Tourism and Marketing Tara Hendrix. “Make the most of a crisp autumn day and let yourself fall in love with Lufkin.”

Brookshire Brothers would like to thank its sponsors for helping make this event happen: AT&T, Campbell Electric, The Chamber, City Wide Promotions, Community Title, DP Solutions, Dupree Tire, Elliott Electric, Etech, Trey & Brigette Henderson, Holmes Smokehouse, Jay Jackson Insurance, Lufkin Gears, Lufkin Parks & Rec, Lufkin Printing Company, Monday Sign Service, Pilgrims, Security & Guaranty Abstract Co., Texas Size Selfie, Ubank, Visit Lufkin and Whataburger.
