SUMMARY A deli cook and/or deli sales clerk is responsible for preparing and maintaining the deli area along with handling sales transactions with the customer.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned. The first and most important responsibility and accountability is to provide friendly, courteous service to our customers. The deli dales clerk is responsible for preparing sandwiches, salads and other deli items. She/he is to promote all deli items by conversations with the customer and displaying deli products in a clean and orderly manner. The deli cook and/or sales clerk is responsible for unloading trucks with the deli supplies.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE The store will provide necessary training.

A deli sales clerk must be able to crouch, grasp, lift, pull, push, reach, stand, kneel and walk in order to maintain and display the deli area. She/he must be able to lift meat cases of up to 40 pounds and chicken cases at 46 pounds which come from the corporate distribution center. They must be able to see and read the information that is provided on their cash register and make prompt and accurate transactions with the customer. This position requires a frequent exertion of a heavy force, it is usually necessary to frequently stand, walk and transport objects. It involves continuous work which cannot be easily or economically interrupted for breaks except at the completion of an assignment.
