Summary: A stocker places merchandise in the shelf in a quick and orderly fashion for the customer to select and purchase.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities: include the following. Other duties may be assigned. The first and most important responsibility and accountability is to provide friendly, courteous service to our customers. A stocker will assist in unloading stock from trailers to the back room of store and transport cases of merchandise to assigned aisles to be opened and individual items placed in assigned slots in the shelf. Stockers will also assist in various other activities as directed in the general operation of the store, as needed, including building displays, bailing cardboard boxes in a baler, general cleaning and custodial duties and other specific activities as directed by management.
Required Education and / or Experience: The store will provide necessary training.
Physical Demands: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. A stocker must be able to crouch, stand, kneel, stoop and walk in order to stock merchandise in the shelf. A stocker must be able to grasp objects, lift and lower up to 50 pounds, reach, pull and push objects in sudden and/or steady motion, all on a repetitious basis. A stocker must also be able to quickly and accurately read information regarding shelf tags, case information and invoices. He/she must have the ability to clearly hear or sense alarms and verbally communicate warnings. This position requires a frequent exertion of a heavy force and/or the frequent exertion of a medium force and requires repetitive motion of the back, hands, wrists, arms and legs.
Work Environment: The job involves exposure to cold and hot working conditions for periods of short duration. The job requires exposure to heavy power equipment with the utilization of the paper/cardboard baler.
Specific Equipment and Materials: Safety box cutter, paper/cardboard baler and pallet jack.
Production or Performance Standards: A stocker is expected to stock merchandise in a quick, accurate and repetitive manner within a certain time limit as designated by management. A stocker is expected to courteously and professionally interact with customers and co-workers and to portray a pleasant temperament and disposition.
Relationship to other Jobs / Positions: Brookshire Brothers employees and personnel are considered team partners and are expected to assist in all areas of the store operation as needed and able.
