Greatest Influence in the Field
My high school Home Economics Teacher, Lawasa Thomas. My mother died when I was 10 and my father did not remarry until I was 17. My brother, sisters and I had the responsibility of family meals and household tasks. Mrs. Thomas came along at a time when I was like a “sponge”. Every day I would learn something that I could take home and use to improve the quality of our family life. Because of the significant role she played in my life, I knew at an early age that I wanted to become a teacher and have the same kind of impact on the lives of my students.
